Clara Barton te etabli Lakwa Wouj Ameriken nan Dansville, New York, nan dat 21 me 1881, e li te tou premye prezidan òganizasyon an. Li te òganize yon reyinyon 12 me ane sa a nan kay Senatè Omar D.
